Queensland Health IRMs, Policies, Directives and Circulars

Employees of Queensland Health and the Mater Misericordiae Public Hospitals South Brisbane are employed under an award and certified agreements. In addition there are some extra conditions held in IRMs, directives, policies and circulars which can be found on the Queensland Health website. For your convenience we have prepared quick links to the applicable medical IRMs, Policies, Directives and Circulars.

IRM (Industrial Relations Manual)
IRMs are matters that are additional to and not contained in an award or agreement
IRMs are currently being converted to HR policies and are contained here only as historical background (when trying to assess what you were previously entitled to)

Policies are essentially the same thing but are usually proscribed by the Director General of Health

The Industrial Relations Minister and the Public Service Commission Chief Executive may issue directives under sections 53, 54 and 55 of the Public Service Act 2008.

Circulars are normally direction to districts on how to interpret IRMs and Policies, or amendments to awards or agreements.

NB* Policies or IRMs should not be used to diminish the entitlement under an award or agreement.
